Parts Inventory Control Calculator (PICC) is a configurable application that
provides DBS-like inventory management to other ERPs for Caterpillar Dealers.
Some dealers have been replacing their DBS installations with other ERPs, such
as SAP, Axapta or Lawson. These ERPs usually don’t have the inventory management
algorithms developed by Caterpillar for DBS.
Basically, your new ERP provides the current stock per branch and demand history
to PICC, which using its configuration parameters, calculates parts' life cycles,
order quantities, and interbranch transfers.
Features
PICC’s main features are:
-
Management of parts' life cycle
-
Daily calculation of suggested order
-
Calculation of minimum and maximum recommended stock according to demand
-
Ability to define hierarchical territoriality
-
Surplus management and interbranch transfers
-
Protected stock
-
Most parameters are configurable (life-cycle, min-types, order point matrix,
surplus base months, stock transfer search sequence)
-
Multiple configuration sets
Requirements
PICC receives its input from and stores its output to text files, which it can read
and write from a network folder or FTP address. Thus it requires no special interface
and can work with any ERP.
However, your ERP will need to be configured to generate from sales and current stock
the input required by PICC, and to understand and act upon the output generated by PICC.
Customization
PICC can be extended to suit your business’s specific needs. If you need it do something
that it currently does not, feel free to contact us and we will work something out.
